Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my dog get groomed?

Dogs that require hair cuts are recommended to get groomed every 6-8 weeks depending on coat type and how you maintain the coat at home.

How should I maintain my dog's coat at home?

To brush your dog at home in between grooms use a slicker brush and a comb. Make sure that your slicker brush is one that does NOT have rubber on the end of the bristles, as these prevent getting the hair fully detangled and removing dead hair from the coat.

How old should my dog be before their first groom?

If you have a puppy that’s new to grooming it is recommended that they start seeing a groomer at 12 weeks in order to get used to the process.

Is there anything I can do to prepare my puppy for their first groom?

While at home you can get your puppy used to being handled like how they will be at the groomer. Gently hold their chins, touch in between their eyes, and play with their paws a lot. This will make getting their face trimmed and nail clipped a lot easier and less scary for the puppy.
